I cooked!

Yep, hear that? I cooked! The mob called this a Tasty Frittata Recipe. And it's not bad ish... Had to adapt it though, bloody school f***s up. I cooked it for my Nutrition class.

A Tasty Frittata Recipe

Cilantro Chile Sauce
2 large cloves garlic
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice, freeshly squeezed
1 small bunch chilantro (it took me ages, but I finally found out cilantro was corriander)
1 green (serrano) chile, seeds removed
2 pinches ground cumin
a couple big pinches of salt (the school had no salt (i know, wtf?) so i did without. It doesn't really need it)

Frittata
6 large eggs
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small yellow onion, chopped
3 small potatoes, very very thinly sliced
1/2 cup yellw zucchini or cauliflower, 1/2 inch pieces (I used cauliflower, I prefer it, but yellow zucchini would look good on it)
1/4 cup goat cheese, crumbled (Mine was to soft to crumble, so it doesn't have to be crumbled)
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds, toasted (School also couldn't get these, so did without)
couple of pinches of salt (see other salt note)

Preheat your oven to 450F degrees (or use a griller, like I did. Means you don't have to convert F to C). Make the cilantro chile sauce by pureeing all ingredients until very smooth. Set aside. (This sauce was suprisingly very nice. Make it!)

In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs with a small pinch of salt. Set aside. In a small skillet (make sure it's small, mine was far to big) over medium heat, add the olive oil, onion and another pinch of salt. Saute, constantly stirring, until the oinon starts to brown, 5-7 min. Add the potatoes and zucchini (or cauliflower), cover, and cook for another 3 minutes or so. (this is a weird step, it took me more than 3 minutes, because shit knives at school couldnt cut very very thin slices. And the onion burnt, must think of a way around this.) Slide everything out of the skillet onto a plate and set aside.

Turn down the heat a bit and add the eggs to the skillet and cook over medium low heat for about 5 min or until the eggs are just set and there isnt a lot of liquid running around the pan. To facilitate this, run a spatula underneath the sides of the frittata and tilt the pan so the uncooked eggs run to the underside and cook. (this wasn't an issue for me cos my fry pan was to big, so it cooked in less time, and I didn't have to do the fiddly bits). Drizzle the eggs with a few tablespoons of the chile sauce and sprinkle potato mixture over the top. (more like place, not sprinkle).

Place the skillet in the oven (or griller) and bake for about 9 minutes, or until well set and puffy. Add a crumble of goat cheese and the pumkin seeds across the top of the frittata in the final 2 minutes. Remove from the oven (or griller), cut into wedges and serve.!

Serves 2 to 4

I don't have pictures, cos I'm just not that computer savy.

And the Sauce is vegan Hedge, so make it!

Subway!!!

mmm Who doesn't love Subway?! I always have honey oat bread, and chedder cheese (i'm going to try the english one next time), sometimes avocado, and then every salad except olives! Including beetroot! I can't believe they but a surcharge on beetroot! Apparantely it's cos South Australia is the only ones who have beetroot, and they're trying to phase it out. WELL IT WONT WORK SUBWAY!!!!!!!!!

I never trusted the Veggie Pattie either, I'm just iffy about all sorts of Veggie Patties. Dunno why. But then Hedge said they were to die for, so I tried it, and its good!

Some times I have a wrap, and it's funny cos they can never wrap em up with all the salad in it!!!

Oh and I nearly always have a different sauce.

Actually I had Subway for lunch yesterday, and I'm gonna have it for tea tonight.

It sounds like a waste of money really. Cos it's just a flash sandwich. But DAMN is it a good sandwich. And if you were to make yourself a sandwich like that it'd end up expensiver anyway.

Know what else is good??? FROZED COCK!!!! Well, Frozen Coke, from Maccas. But the tossers here always put the machine on defrost or some shit, and I miss out. GRRRRRRRRR

And that's about all the fast food I eat.

Oh wait!!! Margherita Pizza from Pizza Haven! mmmmm

And that's it!

Know what bugs me? When people un-necessarily put meat in food. For example, I went to the Umpires Break-up last night, and the bloke cooking knows I'm LOV and got me a veggie pattie from Coles. Sweet! I thought. And there was Potato Bake and Broccoli/Cauliflower au Gratin, and tossed salad. Awesome I thought, lots of tucker for me. Guess what had bacon in it? BOTH the Tato and the salad. And I just lost my appetite. Plus the Gratin was too salty (and I'm not a fan of salt AT ALL). So what should have been a great tea, ended up to be crap cos I lost my appetite.

I hate it though. Great food spoiled by meat. Not to mention that it makes it more expensive. I've been the cheapest person in my cooking class at school cos I haven't brought meat.

And I loose my appetite. Which is crappier.

Hate it....

Actually going to do some cooking!!!

Well, so I'm cooking the usual Monday night BBQ burgers for my dad, brother and me, but still, these are the best burgers out!

It's simple. Basically this order, bottom to top (shh it's upside down!):

Bread
Lettuce*
Tomato*
Beetroot (mmm beetroot)*
Lean Beef Pattie#
Cheese
Pineapple
Bacon#
Egg
Sauce
Bread

Simple huh? Cept for vego me, I have these SPESHUL cracked wheat with some random veggies in em that you get at Woolies and Coles (but only if you ask for them, damn supermarkets!) But they is shit good.

* means that we usually don't put it on the burger, it sits on the side cos the burger is to hard to eat otherwise
# indicates meat, which I dont eat (duh!). The Lean Beef Patty is replaced with Cracked Wheat Pattie and the Bacon goes VAMOOSH!

I'll get started on that at 6. I always cook my LOV food in the one corner too. I've got that saved for myself, and seeing as I do nearly all the cooking on the BBQ, I don't have to worry about other people putting their crappy meat on it! I also clean it. So I deserve a corner.

Aaahhh the Aussie BBQ... Can't beat it...

Shocker!!!

I am a shocker! a shocker! a schoker! I am a schoker! do da do da daaaaay!

Yay! hehe

I'm feeling like shit! Fever, pains etc etc. Slept with my mummy last night, shocking or what?!

But that's not what the shocker reference was to (though it certainly counts), it was to the fact that I haven't bloggered for a while. Oh well I'm in year 12, so therefore I am excused.

Also shocker is that I havent cooked any yummy LOV food. Well I did, on the weekend, me and my bf cooked this Potato, cauliflower (mmm) and pea curry (we are MASSIVE curry fans). I can't remember all the ingredients etc... Wish I did. Will have to write it out next time for postage... But we modified it a bit. That's right! I'm learning how to actually cook, without a recipie!!! WHOOT!!! All I added was Garam Masala (only the best smelling thing in the WORLD) and coconut milk (cos it looked a bit dry)... but yeah... Bloody Beautiful!!!

mmm Curry!!!

I have not much else to say, for the moment anyway... Hope I get better soon!!!

A New Day Begins...

Well!!! Here we gooooooo.....

I'm not even sure why I'm doing this. I've got so many forums etc etc already, like I need a blog... Oh well.....

Um... well this first one can be about me...

I'm Lil Pea, but you can call me Heka, or Sasha or whatever your little mind fancies. I'm 17 (atm) and currently 2 months from freedom! only 2 months till I'm completely free of school! Whoot!! Life will be good!

I'm a vegetarian (WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!), a lacto-ovo vego, a LOV! Hey I just invented that. I'm wicked! As my little blurb says, I live a vegan lifestyle. Basicaly that means anything I use, can't have dead animal or have been tested on animals. And I've almost completely erradicated all animal products from my life already! Quite a feat, though its not that hard. Alot of information from my Mama Pea helped me out too. (thanks Mama Pea!)

What else? I have blue eyes and need contact lenses to see. I have brownish blonde hair, that goes blonder in summer when my skin gets darker. Im pretty talented like that. haha

Oops, gotta go! Got a piano lesson (yes I learn piano, I'm gun at it) in Wilmington at 4, and its 3.15. It's a half hour drive. Anywho! Ta ta!
